Ran 15-way blinded comparison (5 topics x 3 versions). CROSS won all 5 topics (4.74/5.0 avg vs HN 4.10, Base 3.73). Then improved CROSS further: - dedupe.py: hybrid similarity (token+trigram Jaccard) at 0.40 threshold, cross-source links went from 3 to 13 items across 5 topics - render.py: [xref: HN5, HN4] -> [also on: HN, Reddit] for human-readable tags - youtube_yt.py: SYNONYMS dict so "hip hop" matches "rap" (0.33 -> 0.71 score) - SKILL.md: instruction #7 tells Claude to lead with cross-platform signals Validation: improved CROSS scores 4.38/5.0 vs original 3.98 (+0.40), wins 4/5 topics. Biggest gains in specificity (+0.8) and format compliance (+1.0). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>

The Q4_K_M model (~19GB) needs ~18-24GB unified memory for good speed (feels like a fast 7-12B model due to MoE). \n\nBase M4 configs start at 16GB (works, but slower with smaller context); 24GB+ is ideal for smooth agent tasks in OpenClaw.\n\nJust: brew install ollama (or download app), ollama run glm4.7-flash, link to OpenClaw. "transcript_snippet": "so I have been using this M1 Max MacBook Pro for the past 3 years since it came out and it's been great I have felt absolutely no compulsion to upgrade since haven't needed to it's funny most of my work is pretty light but occasionally I will have to edit a video on the go which is then when you know the extra horsepower and the screen and everything about this comes in handy and it's great if I didn't have to do that ever I would just have like an air or a surface laptop something like that but that range of work is why this has been great for me and it's been awesome so [Music] far so Along Comes This M4 generation of MacBook Pros and it's the first generation that I have actually been tempted to maybe upgrade to you know they stacked a couple of the right upgrades in the right places for things that actually make a difference to me so let's just get right into it nuts and bolts cuz the first big pillar is performance and the main reason why this new laptop matters at all is that it's got the new generation of M4 chips inside and we all know the leap from Intel chips to apple cic chips for M1 was generational but since then it's been a sort of more reasonable incremental upgrade going from M1 to M2 then M3 and then M4 so I think it's pretty obvious that nobody with an M2 or M3 needs to upgrade but there's been enough improvements now stacking up upon each other from M1 to M4 that the numbers are now starting to get kind of interesting so just to set the stage this laptop that I've been using is the M1 Max maxed out basically the best you could get at the time 64 gigs of of unified memory on this system and this unit I've been testing of the M4 Max is also maxed out it's the best you can get now it's 128 gigs of faster unified memory but the cores are all better fast stronger on the new one 3 nomers versus 546 gigs per second of memory bandwidth versus 400 just the hardware improvements to get to M4 Max are clearly there so to keep the Apples to Apples comparison going Apple in their own presentation said up to 2.2 times faster CPU performance than M1 Max and 1.9 times faster GPU performance so we're looking at around twice as fast and the synthetic benchmarks I've run back this up I got over 4,000 in geekbench 6 CPU single core which is the highest single core score ever in a Mac by a while and the multicore score was incredible too tops the chart and then GPU has improved a lot to the point where it's bumping up against M2 Ultra not M2 Max M2 Ultra chips the one that's currently in the Mac Pro...",

"transcript_snippet": "woohoo it's new Macbook day my favorite day on short circuit it only comes usually once a year this is the MacBook Pro M4 looks pretty similar to the last one but now it has an M4 instead of an M3 I'm not going to lie I am more of an M3 kind of guy but I can rock an M4 if I have to we've got their usual mag safe 3 to USBC 2 m sleeved nice cable and then a charging brick Oh I ripped it 70 wat USBC charging at least with the 14in I'm not sure what comes with the rest and then the usual Apple propaganda these still come with Apple stickers right do these not come with Apple stickers anymore bro what's the point in even buying them then it's probably good for the planet or something now if you're wondering I am still rocking the same Intel MacBook Pro over here I haven't upgraded yet so this is again another instance of me going hm maybe it's finally time except when I got to set today I realized tragedy struck we bought the wrong MacBook it is still an M4 Pro it's a good form factor we got the 14in here in the sexy space black color profile you can also get it in silver of course but there was a horrible error made and I'm not going to tell you just yet you're going to have to wait a second because first I need to go over the outside of this thing we've got an HDMI 2.1 port a USBC Thunderbolt Port an SD card reer and then on the other side another two USBC Thunderbolt ports 3.5 mil combo audio jack and mag safe there is an upgrade here on the USBC ports they're now Thunderbolt 5 instead of Thunderbolt 4 at least on the pro and Max models uh the base M4 spec only is Thunderbolt 4 and that's good for 120 gbit which is up to 3 times faster than Thunderbolt 4 on the inside bam it's it's pretty much the same keyboard look at that I think it is exactly the same keyboard pretty similar touchpad and then there is the display it looks pretty much the same same resolution same xdr fancy technology it is 1,000 nits Peak brightness when you're Outdoors instead of 600 so that should help with outdoor visibility um there is another change I'm going to tell you about in a bit but the big thing is the new nanotexture option which is an anti-glare coating and as you can tell we don't have it and I saw I Justine's video when it came out look at the difference what the hell you can't even use the one on the right and the one on the left looks beautiful it actually seems to work really well I can't wait to try it myself and honestly I think based on that if you're somebody...",

"transcript_snippet": "so Apple launched the new M4 MacBook Pros this is their 14-in model and it's equipped with the M4 Max their topend configuration and it also has their new Nano texture on their screen it's a texture that's designed to cut down Reflections it's the first time they've actually had it on one of their laptops uh but I want to do a quick video here that kind of goes over the important things I think you should be aware of when it comes to this device and the first thing I want to talk about is performance the CPU gains are quite good year on-ear but it's particularly impressive that the M4 Max can outperform the M2 Ultra in a lot of benchmarks and workflows in terms of Graphics the GPU gains on the M4 Pro are decent but the GPU games on the M4 Max are very impressive most GPU bound apps and games will get a nice bump up from this plus the rate tracing capabilities are better so apps and games can take advantage of that the thing I'm most impressed by though is how good the M4 Max GPU is compared to the previous generation especially at a very similar thermal envelope like if you think about the competitors in this space like AMD Nvidia when they come out with laptop gpus typically the new models come also come with like an increase in power requirement right it's just like you know 5 or 10 watts per year but it adds up over the course of time and on this device if you think about the M1 Max to the M4 Max the GPU has improved so much with very little increase in power consumption The Thermals on this device are pretty much the same as last year's models in terms of memory the base configuration start at 16 GB now thankfully and they've also increased the memory bandwidth it's noticeable already on the base models but the pro and Max chips get a significant boost in memory speed so for applications that lean on Fast memory you definitely notice a bump up this year if I'm being honest though it's difficult for me to tell how much of the gains that we're seeing this year come from the memory speed increase versus the CPU or the GPU increase like they're all tied together and I don't have the tools to lock memory speed on a Macbook so it's tough to tell I will say though that if you have an older M1 or M2 or M3 MacBook Pro I wouldn't upgrade because Apple's silicon performance progresses so fast year on-ear that it can pay off to just wait as long as you can before you buy new hardware okay let's talk about the screens so this particular device is running their new Nano texture finish and it's finish we've seen on other devices before right like their screens uh the new iPads and every...",
